Why Equity Must Shape the Future of Innovation
Technology is rapidly reshaping how we work, lead, and connect. But as innovation accelerates, inclusion is too often an afterthought — if it’s considered at all.
Consider AI-driven hiring platforms that penalize women for using "feminine" language, or biometric wearables that fail to register darker skin tones. These aren’t one-off mistakes. They reveal a pattern: systems built around a narrow set of assumptions, often excluding the realities and needs of women.
As digital infrastructure becomes more central to career advancement and everyday life, the risks of exclusion grow. For women, especially those from historically marginalized communities, the implications are profound. But so is our opportunity to lead.
We Can’t Keep Pretending Women’s Health Doesn’t Belong at Work
Women’s health is finally stepping into the spotlight, and for good reason. From menstruation, to menopause, to caregiving, these realities shape retention, leadership, and organizational success.
Data shows that small, thoughtful workplace changes can make a big difference in well-being and productivity. But many companies still haven’t caught up.
To spur real change, we need to build flexible work environments where everyone can thrive, authentically and sustainably.

Unseen, Unheard, Undervalued: What Invisibility at Work Feels Like for Women of Colour
When 95 per cent of women in a study report being erased at work, we can’t dismiss it as anecdotal.
A 2023 study by the Ivey Business School at Western University and of the University of British Columbia sheds light on the nuanced ways this experience unfolds, revealing why many common DEI efforts fall short. True inclusion goes beyond presence. It’s about recognition, respect, and creating space for authentic voices.
This research uncovers four distinct patterns of invisibility that shape the everyday realities of women of colour. It challenges us to rethink what truly constitutes meaningful inclusion and what leaders can do to foster it.
Refusing to Be Cut Down
Highly ambitious women often face a hidden challenge: instead of being celebrated, they’re pushed down by exclusion, criticism, or resentment. Being a "Tall Poppy" means standing out through success and facing the risk of being cut down by peers or leaders, with real consequences for confidence and career growth.
The good news? Change is possible. It starts with leaders calling out this culture, creating transparency in recognition and advancement, and building environments where standing out is rewarded, not punished.
