Ode to The Perfect Parent

istockphoto-801242066-612x612.jpg

Follow in my footsteps child

And catch my ever word

For it is right and good, my child

While you are plain absurd

And help me with my burdens, child

They’ll help your mind grow strong

And take my side to win, dear child

For I am never wrong

Don’t creep me when my door is closed

Or child, you will pay

No need to learn life lessons now

You’ll learn another day

And listen to your parents, child

No tears, no whines, no moans

No matter that your mother’s grip

Can shatter children’s bones

And mirror your dear father’s best

No questions will you ask

You see some answers to help you through

Are not a parent’s task

And child, please, dream big and loud!

Let your imagination soar

But keep in mind my dreams for you

For they have the open door

Don’t use that tone with me, dear child

Respect I shall receive

You’re far too young to understand

Or better yet, perceive

Now grow up well and strive, my child

I’ve done the best I can

Your turn to raise your own machine

Give them the helping hand.
